Metronome Tracks

Many of our music pieces feature one or more changes in tempo midway through the song, which can be a challenge to manage with a traditional metronome. To avoid disruptive stopping and starting, we use a combination of .mp3 files of customized metronome tracks, in conjunction with the phone app Anytune, available on the Apple App Store. Anytune allows the entire .mp3 to be played back at either the full tempo or a reduced tempo. The app can slow down the entire song by percentage as a whole unit, a helpful feature that ensures that the ratio of the tempos for the entire overall song, from one tempo change to the next, remains consistent. This is very helpful during the learning and memorization stage, as players work up to the performance tempo.

Metronome tracks feature:

• A typical “1… 2… 1, 2, 3, 4”-styled count-off;

• High-pitched marker beeps at count 1 of every measure.

• Higher-pitched placeholder beeps at each numbered or lettered section, or where time signatures change. In other words, the places we typically zero in on while cleaning.

• Accurate accelerando tempo changes.

• Specialized cues are included where appropriate for reinforcing smooth flow during extended 16th note runs, or where triplets are stacked atop 4/4 measures, etc.

CAUTION: These tracks have an elevated volume, so as to be heard over the instruments while wearing hearing protection. Proper care is your responsibility.
